Today we are excited to announce our newest European location - Lisbon, Portugal! The first ever Portugal Founder Institute is just around the corner, as the 4-month program is slated to start on December 5th. The program is open to existing and prospective technology founders of all kinds - with or without an idea, young or old, and with a full-time job or unemployed.

If you or someone you know could benefit from expert training and feedback to launch a technology startup in Portugal, click here to apply. If you apply by the Early Application Deadline on Sunday, October 28th, you get to take the Predictive Admissions Test for free (typically $50), and have the best chance of acceptance.

If you would like to learn more, then join a free event we will be hosting in the coming weeks:

The Founder Institute is an early-stage startup accelerator and global launch network that, in just three years of operation, has helped launch over 500 companies across 26 cities and five continents. Through our part-time four month program, existing and prospective founders can launch their dream company with expert training, feedback, and support from experienced startup CEOs - while not being required to quit their day job. Our unique Graduate Liquidity Pool also enables graduates and mentors to share in the equity upside of each class, creating strong teamwork-based startup ecosystems where great companies can flourish. We call it "Globalizing Silicon Valley."

There are many reasons why the Founder Institute is setting up shop in Portugal. Lisbon is a vibrant city with a nascent entrepreneurship community. As part of the European Union and just a short 2.5h flight from big European hubs, Portugal serves as an ideal bridge between Europe, America and Africa. It's prime geographic location, exceptional talent, low cost of living, bilingual workforce, and access to a huge technical talent pool make Lisbon an ideal place for launching a global startup.

The Lisbon chapter will be lead by Hugo Macedo and Sofia Pessanha, both entrepreneurs and members of Beta-i, a non-profit organization aiming to promote entrepreneurship and innovation throughout Portugal.

Expected mentors of the program include;

  • Andre RIbeirinho, CEO of Adegga.com
  • Carlo Silva, Founder and COO of Seedrs
  • João Vasconcelos, CEO of Startup Lisboa
  • Marco de Abreu, CEO of João Sem Medo Center for Entrepreneurship
  • Nuno Arantes de Oliveira, CEO of Alfama
  • Nuno Sebastião, CEO of Feedzai
  • Paulo Rosado, Founder and CEO of OutSystems
  • Pedro Bizarro, CSO of Feedzai
  • Pedro Janela, Founder and CEO of WYGroup
  • Pedro Trinité, Founder and CEO of Zuvinova/TTR
  • Vasco Pedro, Co-Founder and CTO of dezine.com
  • And many more to be announced
